Hi, I’m Cathy! My name sounds like “happy” (开心) in Mandarin, and I like to think that it suits me. Originally from Xi’an, China, I’ve had the opportunity to live in several different places, including Singapore, Maine, and now Maryland, where I’m currently pursuing my studies.

My academic journey blends life sciences, social sciences, and quantitative analysis. I am passionate about research, particularly in clinical trials, survival analysis, spatial statistics (with map making), and causal inference.

Outside of academics, I’m committed to being an environmentally conscious global citizen, making choices that support sustainability and the health of our planet.
